Fantastically Fun Fridays: November 4, 2011

We have a winner!  Congratulations to Richard Thomas, who was randomly selected out of all our fantastic entries.  Thank you for your recommendation of Stephen King's The Shining.  If the rest of you haven't read it already, we'd encourage you to pick it up if you're looking for a good scare.  And if you have read it already, now might be the perfect time to read it again!

Here are some of the fun things we found for you this week:
  • Patrick Rothfuss recently spoke with Science Fiction Book Club at WorldCon 2011 to discuss his latest book, The Wise Man's Fear.  Take a look to find out more about Pat's writing and editing process, as well as some of his thoughts about future novels in the series! (YouTube)

  • Joss Whedon has directed a new version of Much Ado About Nothing! (muchadothemovie)
  • Speaking of Shakespeare...looking for creative insults, Hamlet-style?  Here's a kit that will make your life easier. (pangloss)
  • To celebrate the 75th anniversary of The Hobbit, a book of Tolkien's original illustrations for the novel have been published. (The Guardian)
  • A vampire identification chart. (Laughing Squid)
  • How to make a butterbeer latte. (Buzzfeed)
  • Some fantastic posters of classic children's fairy tales. (Square Inch Design)
  • And in my favorite news item of the month, it looks like Stephen King's The Dark Tower has been picked up by HBO! (io9)
Make sure you come back next week for more about retold fairy tales, fantastic things to read, and trends in video games.  Have a great weekend, everyone!
