Fantastically Fun Fridays: December 9, 2011

Star Wars: The Old Republic is coming out soon--hooray!--and to get you in the Star Wars and holiday spirit, here's a video for you: "The Sith Who Stole Christmas."

Here are some other fun things from around the Internet for you, including some more Star Wars stuff:

  • A while ago, Kat Howard and I reviewed ABC's new show Once Upon a Time, and both of us had concerns about it.  In this article, Bill Willingham, creator of Fables, talks about Once Upon a Time in relation to his work--and for what it's worth, it made me view the show much more favorably and see some subtly that I hadn't noticed before. (Comic Book Resources)
  • A beautiful new website for the work of Madeline L'Engle. (Madeline L'Engle)
  • Another Star Wars parody...this one featuring cellos? (You Tube)
  • For LOTR fans, an interesting essay on Tom Bombadil. (Loose Connections)
  • Apparently Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Star Trek fan--and he was hugely influential in Nichelle Nichols' decision to stay on the show. (NY Daily News)
  • Back in September, we posted an article about these mysterious book sculptures getting left all over Edinburgh.  Here is a follow-up article about them, including pictures of the final three sculptures. (NPR)
  • The BBC has released a prequel to this year's Doctor Who Christmas special, which is entitled "The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe." (Radio Free Skaro)
  • A hilarious review of the latest Twilight movie, in cartoon form.  Warming: this might not be the review for you if you are a huge fan of the series. (Life at the Light Table)
And finally, if you're looking for a fun holiday project, here are instructions on how to build your own geodesic gingerbread house.  And here are some pictures of "green" gingerbread houses, if you're looking for more inspiration.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
