Christopher Barzak is one of my favorite short story writers. His stories are so poised and elegant on the surface, things of utter beauty, and when you read them, you see that the beauty has layers. The stories he writes run deep, and they stay with you.
"The Boy Who Was Born Wrapped in Barbed Wire" has those layers, and that beauty. And with its bees, and honey, and heat, it seems to me a very summer sort of story. It was originally published in 2005 at The Endicott Studio.
