Midweek Fun: Free Stuff and a Film

To start things off today, we'd like to congratulate Eva from Lousiana--she is the lucky winner of a copy of Suzanne Johnson's latest novel, Elysian Fields!  And if you missed our guest post from Johnson last week, make sure you take a look.

Also, in case you're thinking about which movies you'd like to watch this fall, you'll want to keep Gravity on your radar, a scifi thriller directed by Alfonso Cuarón.

Cuarón happens to be one of my favorite directors--his contribution to the Harry Potter franchise (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) was my favorite film of the series, and his dystopian vision in Children of Men is astonishing on so many levels.  Gravity appears to have the potential to be similarly awesome.  Take a look:

The cinematography looks beautiful, and it will be fascinating to see how he makes a fully-developed story from this basic premise.  My only concern is that I won't be able to tolerate such a constant state of tension for an entire movie!
