Midweek Fiction: Chuck Palahniuk's "Zombies"

Chuck Palahniuk is perhaps best known for his novel Fight Club, which was made into a 1999 film starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton.  Much of his fiction is dark, pushing the boundaries of social norms and expectations.

In "Zombies," Palahniuk uses the form and imagery of a zombie story to do just that.  Published in Playboy in November 2013, "Zombies" is filled with moments that hit so close to the mark that they make you shift in your seat.  By playing on our own fears about what we are turning into as a society, "Zombies" is a story that shows the best of what zombie fiction can do.
