Fantastically Fun Fridays: March 9, 2012

Happy Friday, everyone!  The release of The Hunger Games movie is just a few short weeks away, and we're guessing that many of you are as excited as we are to see how it turns out.  It seems that there are other folks who are excited about its release, too!

Here are some of the other fun things we found on the Internet for you this week:

  • More Hunger Games fun: Tor lists their 10 favorite fictional archers. (Tor)
  • Astronaut Satoshi Furukawa built a space station out of LEGOS--inside the actual space station! (MSNBC)
  • In the "whoa I didn't know that" trivia department--did you know that the Beatles were interested in making a movie of The Lord of the Rings? (IGN)
  • Inspired by the Oscars, literature fans on Twitter staged their own red carpet event. (evilreads)
  • Quilts inspired by the Large Hadron Collider--absolutely amazing! (The Mary Sue)
  • And there's been an exciting new discovery of 500 fairy tales that were locked away in a vault in Germany.  Sounds like a fairy tale on its own! (The Guardian)

One reminder before you head off for your weekend of fun and relaxation: if you are eligible to nominate for the Hugos, the nomination period ends on Sunday.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
